In digging around the net, picking out my next Kumihimo books(sigh...4 books ordered, resistance is futile), I came across ply-split braiding. I've ordered a gripfid to give it a try. Any hints of a brand of good cotton that makes excellent rope for it?
Gripfid is the tool used. It is actually a modified knitting needle. A handy someone could easily make one but I'm working double overtime with not enough time to sleep so I bought instead. Yes I know the illogic of starting something new, when I need sleep more....I can never resist.
There just isn't a lot of detailed information on the net. These two sites seem to have the most
http://www.lindahendrickson.com/
http://www.louisefrench.com/index.html
Note they sell at those sites besides info, I don't know the folks at either, just found them digging through google.
Tablet weaving is calling my name also. Have to think on that a while first. Not sure if just interests me because I crave a big loom and this is second or third best choice, due to small size, or it is a true interest yet.
