So far...

beadsoupvineyard

Well I thought I had tons, more than I needed. Apparently not. 103" inches worth. I estimate I need at least 200" minimum. I guess I will be stringing a while longer. Thank goodness I have a second batch of the beads!

Simple changes

I switched my cord to thinner silk and a big eye needle and away I went. I was able to string several feet of beads, in no time. I'm not done yet but it's progress. On other beaded braids, I have strung each strand separately. This time, I've chosen to string all the beads, then cut it into strands. Since I wasn't sure how far my bead soup would go, that seemed to be the most logical choice.

Uh-oh...

I chose beads, I chose cord, I started stringing.....I lost my mind. I don't think so! Cord is too thick to use a needle and get it through the beads. Stringing one by one without a needle...well I would be doing this for weeks. Okay so that is an exaggeration but definitely days. I like my choices but too time consuming for me. Back to the drawing board...

Proof that cord color...

doesn't really matter. Yes, if you want perfect, match everything up.
Otherwise work with what you have. My intention was to have a line of black satin spiraling through the beads. I've done it with seed beads. Apparently 4mm is large enough to overwhelm the cord or last time I did it with less bead strands. More proof that better note taking makes life easier.

This was an ornery braid. I think I could have make 4 or 5 in the length of time this little 4.5" piece was made. I had to un-braid it numerous times, due to my silly distracted brain. There is actually another 1.5" piece that I made with the left overs. All I can say is...really distracted brain. It was awful.

Terrible photos. The beads are snow white. A better photo will need to be taken in better lighting. I am trapped right now rocking a sweet furbaby so maybe later.

Details:
4 pieces 1mm black satin cord. Used about 18".
4 pieces white silk thread size D, each strung with 60 4mm Czech white pearl beads. If I had completed it as one braid, it would have resulted in a 6" braid. Diameter is about 10mm.

The disk set-up:

About the disk: I have now made dozens of braids with it. It is holding up very well. The print is rubbing off but that doesn't affect making braids.
